The White House
August 2005
Another story requires its own article.
In August 2005, the month of the New Orleans flooding situation, I joined my fiancé along with 5 other of his guests and their spouses. We shared a private dinner in the private quarters of the White House in Washington DC. My fiancé was honored by the President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush with a private dinner in the previous Lincoln bedroom though the white lace curtains remained on the windows for our attendance.
The interesting treat beyond what I described, was this night was my first night out since my process of healing my detached retina in an eye. During my healing, I had little movement and no lifting of over 3-5 pounds for 2 to 3 weeks.
The dinner itself had a formal dining card describing what was available too being served for this dinner. During the dinner, the President made the dinner more personable and memorable after that evening through some us all signing the formal dinner menu card we each had placed on our serving plate.
A gentleman from the President’s secret service aided me when walking out from the White House to the gate. It was dark and I still had night blindness from my detached retina repair.
That night, I enjoyed speaking with and having dinner with the President and the First Lady, and with some of Spencer’s close friends and their spouses!
