In the last several days, dopamine has been a topic I am starting to explore and see how I can improve my health. I ran into some edema from the waist down and then what looked like something else. I was not providing as much rest for my feet and legs, and carrying a backpack with a variety of projects and just in case the weather or temperature changes. This subject may seem pedantic for some or many.
What really is not pedantic, and many other individuals share is using food sources, at least in my case, to maintain a higher level of performance, and many times with a lower amount of daily sleep.
I had been in the middle of one YouTube video of Dr. Huberman, a Stanford professor and M.D. who discusses dopamine and will finish watching soon. I had been watching another video of an integrative medicine doctor who was also discussing the topic.
So while I have been assessing my managing and improving my body’s level of overall health, I have been looking at my own life story. We all have them. What skills and life was like when we were younger, and how we matured and areas of strengths and development of new skills and interests.
In my younger years, from second grade through my 20s, I loved math and was more skilled in math than multi-level communications skills and even creativity in producing solutions in the work and interpersonal environments. I wanted to go into corporate finance and institutional investment banking, yet I ended-up for many years in the private client area of money management and finance. Here I learned to develop communication skills, though they really developed during times of personal difficulty where emotions were involved and I had to work through them despite how impossible my personal difficulties were.
Now I feel and use much better judgment in communicating to those who have had such a different upbringing or set of experiences later in life.
As I had been more of an introvert in my earlier years, I had become more discerning, as I began to really hear what others are trying (or not trying) to communicate. Listening requires allowing another a space to communicate, versus talking, talking, talking for the sake of connecting with another.
This essay is a different expression of mine in that I have been reassessing passions, interests, and where to take my life from here. I found the investment world stimulating, challenging, and perhaps in my earlier years a novice in understanding of complex products and services.
My life story as it can be said, has melded in connecting the complex with the simple, versus living in either extreme. That seems to help when life offers a normally emotionally triggering situation, yet I am no longer bound into that type of response.
At present I am exploring work opportunities where I can grow and develop. I am excited to mark this time as a choice I am making to offer skills I have which are many, and learn new ones! The great balance of caring for others and caring for oneself, has become more of a consistent part of my life, despite there having been temporary segments that I allowed for personal drain. To have a fervor for life and keeping those sparks, I have learned more about the rhythms of life.
While this writing has seemed a bit meandering, it is the path many take to creatively finding ourselves or our new business, to finding where the next stage of our life should grow.
I hope this writing provides you with some helpful ideas for your life!
